Game Elements

Not every single rule when it comes to prototyping is the same. This depends on the type of game that is being developed.

For example, the link above which we were required to watch in our reading informs its viewers of ways in which a game can be made. This can include drawing a mock-up version or set up of the game on paper along with using kinetic equipment as controls (Your fingers, pencils, etc). Another way of prototyping a game is attempting to play a real-life version of the game. This can all be done before coding the game and prototyping it digitally. In my opinion, the video is easy to follow and makes it look easy for one to prototype a game.

The article above explains a similar process to the video that was discussed. Except it discusses that when it comes to having an idea of what game one wishes to develop and create, it is a good idea to play existing video games similar to their idea. This and the paper prototyping are effective ways in my opinion to envision what you wish your game to be like. Another important thing for me and people in my year to know is that games like Mario, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc take YEARS to develop. We are all well capable of making a game at that level someday, but for now, being patient and taking one step at a time will help everyone get there.

This article argues that prototyping should not look pretty, to basically worry about all the nice graphics later and worry about the technicality and the logistics of the game. Prototypes are there to solve problems and answer questions about the game
