It can be argued that there is a social reason for the popularity of games and gaming. One of th e reasons is that people often use video games and gaming in general to socialise with others. Weather it would be a board game in a family home (Example; Monopoly or Uno) or playing a video game live with others (For example; Among Us, Halo, Grand Theft Auto etc) or multiplayer video games. This can be known as Social Gaming. 

Social Gaming is essentially playing any game in a social platform. It mainly referees to online gaming or on Social Media. A few different types involve multiplayer, Social Platforms and Interactions. This is similar to what was stated above. Most of this age demographic is children and young adults. This can be because many more young people use social media. It can be argued that this is due to the fact that many games are available on phones, laptops, Ipads and other hardware technology. Among Us, a very popular game in 2020 that involved people around the world commenting onto a public or private room to play, was mainly used on a hardware device. While Minecraft, the worlds most popular game is mainly played on a laptop. Many games that are available on consoles are also available on laptops (Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto etc) .
